Our Story & Philosophy
estled in the idyllic village of Rovies on the island of Evia, Mangata Seaside Hotel is a testament to the power of stories, tradition, and the magic of human connections.
In the 1950s, Greece welcomed a modest 30,000 tourists, with the industry still blossoming. Despite a surge in arrivals over the next two decades, Rovies, an idyllic village on Evia island. with cultural heritage from the ancient, medieval and modern times, remained untouched by mass tourism. Primarily involved in agriculture and the local paper factory, Rovies' inhabitants thrived in their peaceful corner, boasting one of Greece's first electrified settlements.
It was here that Georgiou Apartments, one of Rovies' inaugural lodges, charmed visitors seeking solace from city life. With mobile phones a distant dream, Athenians flocked to Rovies, discovering Georgiou Apartments as a hidden treasure. In the days of Georgiou Apartments, the walls witnessed the joys of friends celebrations, moonlit beach picnics, and the laughter of children at play. The hotel's guests treasured their connection with the Georgiou family, often inviting them to their homes to demonstrate their hosting skills and forge lasting bonds.
As Mangata Seaside, the hotel has been thoughtfully renovated, preserving its legacy while bringing it into a new era. The name Mangata, meaning the reflection of the moon on water, symbolizes the hotel’s picturesque location, its DNA of sustainability and its mission to create unforgettable moments based on life’s simple pleasures.
With just eight, minimalist rooms and located at the waterfront in the village of Rovies, Mangata Seaside offers an intimate setting that encourages guests to indulge in personalized experiences. Guests can enjoy tailor-made activities, from fun dives and sunset sails to private picnics and cooking classes with the in-house chef, as well as exploring the local area through hiking or horse riding in the nearby mountains, or simply basking on the pristine beach.
